Canada Council for the Arts Presents: On The Road Touring Workshop
The Canada Council for the Arts, in conjunction with Worlds of Music Toronto and the Lula Lounge, is pleased to present a 3-day intensive touring workshop for world music* artists and their agents and/or managers. This is not your everyday workshop. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from the experts and get an insider's view on how to increase your touring and performance opportunities. You will have a chance to discuss your career with seasoned music agents, managers, publicists, festival programmers and funders. In the words of past workshop participants:
“I learned everything that I wanted to know and much, much more” “I not only gained insight on how to plan a successful tour, but I also feel I have the tools to face this daunting world music business” “It’s the behind the scenes knowledge that can really make the difference between a career and a hobby” “This is, by far, the best [money] I have ever spent!”
Registration is limited. The deadline for registration is Friday, 19 December 2008. The workshop will take place at the Lula Lounge in Toronto from 16 to 18 January 2009.
For workshop details and a registration form, please see the attached documents. Please feel free to pass this information on to other interested musicians.
*World music includes genres such as bhangra, cumbia, Chinese traditional music, etc.
